On March 19, Consul General Theresa Grencik opened “Business without Barriers: Seminar for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities” in partnership with “Shyrak” Association of Women with Disabilities. The purpose of the seminar is to stimulate entrepreneurial activity among disabled people by providing them with tools, tips, and information from the very best professionals in each area, provide a forum for networking and exchange between entrepreneurs, the private sector, government, and non-profit/social sector as well as raise awareness of disability issues in the economy and the opportunities for persons with disabilities to manage their own business.
Workshops designed to provide or strengthen business skills in areas like: creating a business plan; credit; marketing and advertising; tax/accounting; and programs to assist entrepreneurs. Around 50-60 disabled entrepreneurs from across Almaty and Almaty oblast are invited to attend the seminar.
Participants include Arthur Kotenev Director of the Almaty Chapter of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Lyazzat Kaltayeva Chairwoman of the “Shyrak” Association of Disabled Women, Kuat Dombay Director of Human Resources at JSC Kazkommertsban, Gulzira Amanturlina Director of the Social Entrepreneurs’ Association and “Eldany” Charitable Foundation and a representative from DAMU entrepreneurship development fund came to share their experience, consult and participate in a discussion on the topic of “Creating Equal Opportunities for Disabled Entrepreneurs.” Keynote remarks at the end of the program will be delivered by Ms. Anjlee Agarwal, an Indian entrepreneur and Executive Director of the National Center for Accessible Environments in New Delhi.
