CG attends the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan

February 15, 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan.  During a ceremony in Almaty, local authorities, Afghan war veterans, youth organizations, diplomats and Almaty residents honored those who served.   U.S. Consul General T.Grencik represented the United States, laying flowers at the Eternal Flame monument in Panfilov Park.   Soldiers from different republics of Soviet Union served in Afghanistan, including 22,000 from Kazakhstan.
