Founded in 1992 by Guggenheim Fellow and North Philadelphia native Rennie Harris, Rennie Harris Puremovement (RHPM) was conceived with the vision for sharing an appreciation for diversity and is dedicated to preserving and disseminating hip-hop culture through workshops, classes, lecture-demonstrations, dance residencies, mentoring programs and public performances.
Rennie Harris Puremovement has performed to sold-out audiences in the U.S. and abroad, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Grand halle de la Villette in Paris, the Reichhold Center in St. Thomas, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Kiasma Museum in Helsinki, the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia, the Holland Dance Festival, the Spoleto Dance Festival, and the Nervi Festival.
