Taste of America: Soul Food with Chef Tanya Holland

On June 5, the U.S. Consulate General hosted the “Taste of America: Soul Food” culinary event at the outdoor garden of the InterContinental with California-based celebrity Chef Tanya Holland.  At the family-style dinner, guests enjoyed the opportunity to taste the best of African-American cuisine, met Chef Holland, and had a chance to win one of her cook books.

During the Third Annual Culinary Diplomacy program, Chef Tanya Holland conducted food demonstrations, spoke at American corners, and shared her insights on entrepreneurship, while at the same time learned about and explored the diverse ethnic cuisine of Kazakhstan. Chef Tanya Holland, who is known for her inventive takes on modern soul food as well as comfort classics, visited Almaty, Shymkent, Sairam, Pavlodar and Astana.
